Google Meet often offers the option to add a background while using the platform. However, not every regular Google Meet user has access to this facility. It is the Google Workspace admin who controls the availability of the feature.

How to Change Google Meet Background – Before Joining a Meeting
Step 1
Go to the Google Meet app.
Step 2
Select a meeting.
Step 3
Click on the Effects option at the bottom of the meeting window.
Step 4
Choose the required option from the menu that appears. Some of the options are as follows.
- Slightly Blur
- Blur Background
- +
- Styles
- Filters
- No Effects
Step 5
After selecting a background or no background, the user has to click Done to confirm.
Step 6
Click the Join option to join the meeting.
How to Change Google Meet Background – During the Meeting
Step 1
Go to the meeting window.
Step 2
Go to the self-view option.
Step 3
Click on the Effects option available at the bottom of the window.
Step 4
From the options that appear, click on Effects.

A number of effects appear on the screen. The user can choose the favorite background from them. The user also has the option not to pick any background for the meeting and leave it empty.
Step 6
After selecting the effect or background, the user has to close the Effects window. Before closing, the user can check out a preview of the background through self-view.
One of the most important things to remember while using a Google Meet background is that it can affect the system's battery charge.
So, it is advisable not to use background in Google Meet if the battery charge is limited.
